Defibrillator Unauthorised Access
NOTICE TO RESIDENTS
STANFORD NORTH DEFIBRILLATOR – BT BOX
Dear All,
The cabinet for the Defibrillator has been accessed by someone, they have removed the alarm fob and left the cabinet unlocked.
Fortunately the defibrillator was still in the cabinet, but as it was unlocked it could have been removed by anyone at any time.
It is unclear who may have done this and for what reason, but it has resulted in an emergency call out to the aftercare provider to ensure the defibrillator was untouched and in good working order. Had the cabinet been left like this during winter, the heater, which maintains an ambient temperature to preserve the battery, would have likely caused damage to the defibrillator by overheating.
The Aftercare provider has also informed us that a further attempt to open the cabinet had been made after the cabinet had been closed and prior to their visit.
The Parish Council would request that parents speak to their children about the importance of not tampering with the Defibrillator cabinet, if anyone has knowledge of how the cabinet became unlocked and/or the alarm fob whereabouts, we would be grateful if you could contact the clerk. This matter will be dealt with complete confidence and anonymity.
